Elder Services receives matching gift from GE Fund

Elder Services of Berkshire County has received $8,940. from the General Electric Fund’s "More Gifts, More Givers" program. The donation, representing matching monies for donations made to Elder Services by GE retirees and employees in 2001, will help Elder Services continue to achieve its mission: to provide Berkshire elders the opportunity to live with dignity, independence and self-determination, and to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

The donation was presented July 3 to Elder Services’ Community Services Director Roger Suters by Yoshiaki Fujimori, GE Plastics President, at a reception held at GE Plastics. Mr. Suters said, "Elder Services can achieve its mission only in collaboration with the community, and we highly value the support given to us through More Gifts.....More Givers. When GE employees and retirees take the time to secure these matching funds, they touch the lives of many Berkshire elders."

The GE fund, General Electric’s philanthropic foundation, supports programs that provide for the education and well-being of men, women and children, providing scholarships, matching employees’ charitable gifts, and funding projects that make a difference to the community.

Elder Services will use the GE Fund’s gift to fill funding gaps in services to Berkshire elders, such as Money Management Assistance, Enhanced Elder Intervention, and Meals on Wheels. Present or former GE employees may apply to the "More Gifts, More Givers" program to have donations to Elder Services matched by the GE Fund by calling
