Florida Senior Center will be built

The Florida Senior Center will be built! While the project has not been in the news much recently, behind the scenes the Building Committee and architects have been meeting to discuss several alternative plans which would hopefully keep the bids under budget. A meeting between the Board of Selectmen and the Building Committee finalized decisions that need to be made before architects complete the bid specifications.
I must admit that when we received our grant for the building, which seems a long time ago, I envisioned a plan, a builder and a building all within the blink of an eye. Serving on the Building Committee has opened my eyes to the reams of paperwork, the books of state regulations, the high cost of building materials and all the preliminary work that needs to be done before a goundbreaking can occur. But happen it will. I have learned patience in serving on this project. I guess we’ll all have to practice it for a while.
