Elder Services promotes three; adds nutritionist and casemanager
Elder Services to announced that April Hudson, a Protective Services Case Worker, has been
promoted to Protective Services Supervisor II. She will assist Protective Supervisor Susan
Geary in the Supervision of the growing Protective Department.
Hudson holds a Masters in Criminology from Indiana State University. She has worked with
the Hampshire County District Court Probation Department and with Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Springfield. A Pittsfield resident, Hudson is
a member of the World Society of Victimology.
Elder Services Elder at Risk Worker Michael D. Stiles has now become a Protective Services
Case Worker, investigating and providing casework in cases of elder abuse, neglect or
financial exploitation.
Stiles, a Northampton resident, has a Bachelor's of Science from Westfield State College,
and has worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Service Net, inc. of Northampton.
Home Care Casemanager Amy Bourassa, of Pittsfield, has been promoted to Elder at Risk
Worker in the Protective Services Department, assessing and providing services to elders
at risk due to self-neglect.
Bourassa holds a BA in Sociology with a minor in Social Work from Massachusetts College of
Liberal Arts, and will be pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work from Springfield
College in the fall. Bourassa interned in the Dementia Unit at Sweetbrook Care Centers,
Inc., and was previously employed by Kimball Farms in Lenox.
Geraldine "Denie" Smith has been hired as Elder Services Nutritionist. Smith
received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Vermont. She
has spent time in the Peace Corps and, for several years, along with her husband, operated
the Flintstone Farm and Nursery in Dalton. Her experience also includes outreach work for
the Dalton Council on Aging. Smith will ensure the daily menu of meals served at
Congregate Meal Sites and to Meals on Wheels recipients meets the required nutritional
standards and the taste preferences of consumers. She is also available to do nutritional
consultations for any Berkshire senior.
Carol Betti, a Williamstown resident, has joined Elder Services as a Casemanager. For over
11 years, she was a Casemanagement Reviewer and held other positions
at North Adams Regional Hospital. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the
former North Adams State College, (now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts), and is a
Licensed Social Worker.
As Casemanager, Betti will assess the needs of elders; collaborate with elders in
developing suitable service plans; and interact with other aging network agencies to
secure the services necessary to help elders remain in their own homes. Betti had worked
at Elder Services as a casemanager prior to her NARH employment.
