Ripley Promoted to Residential Coordinator

Elder Services of Berkshire County has promoted Case Manager Pamela Ripley to the position of Residential Coordinator for Supportive Housing at Providence Court, East Street, in Pittsfield. Ripley is available Monday through Friday in her office at Providence Court, coordinating services for the residents. Ripley oversees the new Supportive Housing Program Elder Services began this summer, provides case management and health insurance consultation, and arranges services, possibly including personal care, apartment cleaning, grocery shopping, and medication reminders. She will develop social and educational activities to be instituted over the next few months, which will be offered in addition to the daily hot weekday meal Elder Services is now offering.

Providence Court residents who don’t qualify for state-funded services based on need and income are able to privately purchase the entire package of supportive services, or specific services, as they so desire. All residents are eligible for the noon meals, insurance consultation, emergency personal care, social activities, and educational offerings.

Ripley, a Pittsfield native and Pittsfield High School graduate, began her human services career by doing homemaking for the elderly, earning her associates degree in Human Services from Berkshire Community College in 1992. Ripley has been employed with Elder Services since 1986, starting as a Meals on Wheels driver, progressing to Case Aide, and serving as Case Manager for the past 10 years. In 1999, she was certified as a SHINE counselor, providing health insurance counseling and information to Berkshire elders.

About her new position as Providence Court Residential Coordinator, Ripley says

"I feel privileged to be able to help people in their time of need, and to make them aware of services available to them. I enjoy meeting and talking with the people who live here and feel there is a wealth of knowledge being shared between us."
