Money Management assistance available to South County elders

Elder Services is pleased to announce the addition of nine volunteers to the Money Management Program, who are available to assist lower-income seniors with tasks related to bill paying in and around the communities of Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, and New Ashford.

Volunteers are experienced in a variety of occupations, and offer assistance in balancing bank statements, writing checks for elders to sign, keeping a checkbook register up-to-date, paying bills, organizing and sorting mail, and setting up budgets. The Program matches an elders with a volunteer based on individual needs and preferences. The volunteer then provides an on-going monthly service performing tasks directed by the elder. All volunteers have been trained, and will be supported by Elder Services’ Program Coordinators.

Eligible seniors who are 60 years or older, who have difficulty in an area of completing household financial tasks are welcome to call Elder Services Money Management Program for more information at (413) 499-0524, ext. 108. Family members or friends of seniors are also welcome to inquire. This program is co-Sponsored by AARP, Mass Home Care and the Executive Office of elder Affairs.
