Elder Services adds two new staff

Jeanette Chague has joined Elder Services’ staff as Money Management Coordinator and Sam Lagrotteria has become Senior Aide Assistant.

As Money Management Coordinator, Jeanette Chague will oversee the daily operations of the Money Management Program, which provides trained volunteers to help elders write checks, balance the checkbook with bank statements, and develop and manage a workable budget. She will provide support for the 73 Money Management volunteers, recruit, screen and train new volunteers, match volunteers with elders, prepare statistical reports and oversee community outreach.

Chague, a Lenox resident, has a Bachelor’s degree from Mass. College of Liberal Arts, has worked as a marketing assistant for Berkshire Corporation, as a real estate agent for Re/Max Integrity Realtors, and as Assistant Bank Manager for City Savings Bank.

Lagrotteria is Senior Aide Program Assistant. Lagrotteria assists Cathy Walker, Senior Aide Coordinator, in providing support with job development and placement for senior aides seeking unsubsidized employment.

The Senior Aide Program is a federally subsidized job training program in which low income individuals age 55 or older are placed in non-profit organizations, receiving on-the-job work skill training with the aim of moving to positions in the workplace within two years.

Lagrotteria, a Pittsfield resident, attended Boston University’s School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was Resident Manager of the Wendell Hotel in the 1960's and later served as an employment counselor for Experience Works !, a federally funded employment agency for seniors in Pittsfield.
