Yvette Bastow, Money Management Volunteer of the Year

By Jeanette Chague, Money Management Coordinator

Yvette is not a stranger to Elder Services’ Volunteer Programs. She began her

volunteer career at Elder Services in 1997 first as an office assistant then Money Management volunteer and SHINE Counselor. As a Money Management volunteer, Yvette assists people with budgeting, and guides them in maintaining their budgets and paying monthly bills.

She and her family are originally from Long Island, New York where she taught elementary school for 22 years. She and her husband would often come to the Berkshires to ski and they enjoyed the area so much that when they retired they became permanent residents.

Giving back to the community was a natural process for Bastow. In addition to her volunteering at Elder Services, she also volunteers at the Adult Learning Center in Pittsfield, Tanglewood and the Lake District Restoration Association of Hoosac Lake. She continues to take courses at the Berkshire Institute of Lifetime Learning.

Bastow is very modest about receiving this award. She is very grateful for being able to do the things she likes to do and for her wonderful family.

Thanks for being part of our lives too.
