REACH's Horizon Fund brings "Caregiving Lending Library" to local public libraries
By Eric Schiavino-Narvaez
The Horizon Fund, a program of the REACH Community Health Foundation, has announced the creation of the Caregiving Lending Library at the Milne Public Library in Williamstown. The Caregiving Lending Library offers books, videos, and resource guides, and was previously housed in the medical library of the North Adams Regional Hospital.
"We are so pleased to be able to make these resources available to caregivers in our community," says Maria Rodriguez-Im-merman, President of the REACH Community Health Foundation. "It’s rare that a small community such as ours would have so many resources on Caregiving."
The Horizon Lending Library was created in 2002-2003 with Title III funds from Elder Services
of Berkshire County. Since its inception, many Northern Berkshire County residents have turned to the Lending Library for help.
Horizon and REACH will work with the Milne Public Library to expand the Horizon Lending Library readership throughout Northern Berkshire County. The Horizon materials will be showcased at the Williamstown Library, but will be extended to other public libraries in the future. At any time, however, all area residents can order these resources through Inter-Library Loan.
The REACH Community Health Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of the Northern Berkshire community. A subsidiary of the Northern Berkshire Health Systems, REACH organizes an array of initiatives in health education, treatment services, disease prevention, research, and advocacy.
