Barbara St. Pierre was named Director of the Adams Council on Aging (COA) earlier this year.
St. Pierre, an L.P.N. who also has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Connecticut, worked for the previous 11 years at the North Adams Adult Day Health Program. She draws on an extensive network of contacts to provide a new perspective in meeting the needs of Adams’ residents. “My primary goal as Adams COA Director is to discover and enhance the vital contribution elders provide to their community.”
As a lifelong Adams resident, St. Pierre embraces her new role with enthusiasm and energy.
The COA, which is located at the Adams Community Center at 20 East Street, sponsors a number of programs for elders including monthly foot and health clinics, a quilting club, and a Social Day Program. In addition, Elder Services Nutrition Program serves lunch each weekday.
