Since early June, Pittsfield’s downtown streetscape has featured 70 artist-decorated fiberglass sheep, recalling the historic Merino sheep of the woolen industry of the 1800’s. Sheeptacular Pittsfield! has been a community effort involving businesses, schools and the arts community, raising funds that will benefit school projects and Berkshire non-profit organizations including Elder Services. Proceeds from the auction on September 18 at Hancock Shaker Village of “In a Sheep’s Eye” (A flock on North Street) (left) by Douglass Truth, sponsored by Link-to-Life, and “A Few Pennies Saved” (right) by Ali Herrmann, sponsored by Pittsfield Cooperative Bank will help support Elder Services' programs for which the agency is very grateful.
