Berkshire’s Aging and Disability Resource Consortium

By Lisa Lungo

AdLib, Incorporated, Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit t organization whose mission is to empower people with all types of disabilities to live more independently and have control of their own lives.

Elder Services is the Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) and Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for seniors living in Berkshire County. The mission of Elder Services is to provide Berkshire seniors and individuals with disabilities the opportunity to live with dignity, independence and self-determination, and to achieve the highest possible quality of life.

During the past year, AdLib and Elder Services partnered to form Berkshire County’s Aging and Disability Resource Consortium (ADRC). This collaboration is designed to make access to information on services and supports for seniors and individuals with disabilities easier. With a “no wrong door” approach, someone can call either AdLib or Elder Services and receive information on programs and services available to seniors and individuals with disabilities. New procedures, implemented in September, 2009 now allow for cross referral between the two agencies.

For more information on programs and services for seniors and individuals with disabilities, call AdLib at 442-7047, 1-800-232-7047 or Elder Services at 499-0524, 1-800-544-5242.
