Adult Day Care programs

There are two levels of day care for adults available in Berkshire County for adults — Social Day Care (SDC) and Adult Day Health (ADH).

SDC provides supervised day care that includes socialization, exercise, arts & crafts and a variety of other activities. Generally, participants need to be continent, able to do their own toileting and need no assistance with activities of daily living. A participant can attend SDC for either whole day sessions (usually a 6-hour day) or ½ day sessions. Participants can attend 5-6 days a week or whatever combination of days best suits the participant.  Some SDC programs will assist participants in arranging transportation.

ADH generally serves participants that need assistance with activities of daily living such as toileting, dressing, and bathing. ADH programs have an registered nurse on duty to monitor medication and handle a wide variety of health and medical criteria including tube feeding, oxygen dependence, transferring, and incontinence. The ADH programs also provide socialization and arts and crafts. In addition, physical therapy and occupational therapy may also be available. Some ADH programs will assist participants in arranging transportation.
