Dear Senator Nuciforo, and Representatives Larkin, Bosley, Kelly and Pignatelli:
On behalf of Elder Services, I would like to thank you for your dedicated efforts during the recent legislative session to protect the well-being of Berkshire elders by providing adequate funding for services and a strong voice for those over 60.
Elder Services is pleased with the results of the recent budgetary process, including new funding levels for the Prescription Advantage Plan, Salary Reserve, and the Councils on Aging, and the funding levels for Aging Services Access Point (ASAP) services, such as Choices, State Home Care, the Enhanced Community Options Program (ECOP), and Protective Services. The expansion of the Medicaid Home and Community-based Waiver Program will allow more elders to remain in their own homes with enhanced service packages.
We also appreciate
the legislature’s repeal of the language allowing for the application of a MassHealth Transfer of Assets Waiver and the repeal of the expanded MassHealth Estate Recovery language, so that the prior system for probate estate recovery can remain in effect.Thank you for all you did to help create these positive outcomes for your older constituents.
The elders of Berkshire County are fortunate to have such a strong advocate on Beacon Hill, representing the very real and pressing issues of older persons and their caregivers.
Thank you for all you do for Berkshire County elders.
Sincerely,
Robert P. Dean
Executive Director
