HOUSE RESTORES PURCHASED SERVICES LINE ITEM 7/10/03

Shortly before 6 pm on Thursday evening, July 10, the House voted unanimously

(151 to 0) to override Governor Romney's veto of line item 9110-1630, restoring $2.4 million to the Home Care Purchased Services account.

More Elder Affairs overrides may be taken up on Monday. We are hopeful that this could include actions on the COA and Home Care Case Management vetoes. Mass Home Care and ASAP leadership will continue to push for these items.

Any overrides will still have to go through the Senate. However, we have had indications that they will look favorably on home care restorations. When that is

is over and done with, we will then have to urge the Governor not to 9c elder services accounts.

Thank you to all who have done such good work in keeping the pressure on Beacon Hill. The pay off for seniors this time is $2.4 million from our effort.
