House and Senate Overrides as of July 17, 2003

Late on July 17, 2003, the House voted unanimously (150 - 0) to override the Governor’s veto of the Councils on Aging line item and to restore $590,000 to the Councils on Aging.

As of the morning of July 18, the Senate had already taken up three of the House overrides with the following result:

1. The Home Care Purchased Services veto was overridden by the Senate on Monday 7/14 by a vote of 36 -1.

2. The Congregate veto was overridden by the Senate on Thursday night 7/17 by a vote of 34 - 5.

3. The Home Care Case Management and Administration veto was also overridden by the Senate on Thursday night by a vote of 37 - 1.

It does not appear that the Senate has yet taken up the fourth House override - the veto to the Councils on Aging line item but the expectation is that the Senate will override this as well.

Elder Services will be thanking the Berkshire delegation for their support.

Thanks for yours,
